I am doing some re-work on the roll cage I put in Ben and Tish's 4 door jk.
Since the roll cage they add suspension seats and 5 points to the back. The seats are back as far as possible. There were two issues with this setup. It put the top of the c-pillar directly over the back seat. This was pretty straight forward to fix. You can see where I cut and added the new bent bar and v this is done minus some fancy gusseting.
Roll Cage Re-work
Re: Roll Cage Re-work
The second problem is the lower kickers on the b-pillar are about 5" from the seat. Making it hard to get in and out or sit very comfortably for anyone other than a child. I realize the current setup is the best design strength wise.
My though is to add a lower bar just off the floor running all the way a crossed and slide the kickers in just enough to gain knee room.
Any other ideas? Thought?

How is the cage connected to the frame?
Could you connect the lower points of the bottom "skinny v" directly to the frame or via fish plates?
This could eliminate the need for the lower crossbar that will likely take up valuable footwell space.
Not sure where the frame runs on these, it may not move the lower point in enough to gain any advantage if it's a wide frame.
Even if this isn't possible, your plan with the lower cross tube is solid.
That would be my choice if frame connections aren't possible.

Re: Roll Cage Re-work
It is not connected to the frame in the way we would normally do it.
The cage is tied into the full length tub rocker armor that is tied into the beefed up body mounts that it has a bunch of (12 iirc). This sees a lot more road miles than most of our junk.
That said I do like the idea of a lower center tie in with or without the cross bar, I'll see what is underneath in that area
