Battery cables and lugs

Post by keepviper13 » Sun Jun 10, 2018 8:25 pm

Looking for some insight on what others are doing for making battery cables. Crimp and solder/crimp only?

I’ve gotten by this far by buying complete cables on amazon or soldering on some ends, but I’m looking for a more professional solution. New to me sxs needs all the battery cables re-done and I’d like it to be a one and done solution.

Current cables are 4 gauge (x5) but I’d want the capability to do 00 through at least 4ga.

I’ve commonized on these battery terminals, so the cable lugs would almost always be 3/8” ring terminals.

I crimp all of mine. Regular copper terminals, I like this type of crimper you can use it easily on vehicles replacing an end. Adhesive heat shrink over it

After some more digging I went ahead and ordered a hydraulic hand crimper. Will report back on the results.
What I saw online was pretty promising, so we'll see.

Would be interested to see if it works. I’d like to get o but haven’t pulled the trigger.
